UNESCO World Heritage
Bryggen in Bergen has for centuries been a place of buzzing activity. The area attracts tourists from all over the world seeking to buy souvenirs and quality Norwegian crafts.
Bryggen in Bergen enjoys UNESCO World Heritage patronage for very good reason. Already in the 1300s there was lively commercial activity along the Bergen waterfront. Hanseatic merchants came to do good business, and Bryggen was locally known as the Hanseatic or German Wharf.
