The Palm Beach in Frederikshavn started as a 'crazy idea' by 2 enterprising employees at Frederikshavn Municipality. The town needed a tourist highlight and what could be better than a true Caribbean adventure? The idea came to fruition in 2004 when the first palm trees appeared on the beach in Frederikshavn.

Ever since, new palm trees and other interesting features have been added every year on the beach, which is known throughout Denmark and Scandinavia.

Pikkerbakken is part of a 3-km long coastal cliff shaped by the Ice Age. The impressive cliffs are the result of the Denmark’s largest geographical land rise. Pikkerbakken itself rises 71 meters above sea level. From here there is an amazing panoramic view of Frederikshavn and the islands of Hirsholmene in Kattegat.

After many years of industrial decline, Frederikshavn is once again a city in rapid development. One of the city’s landmarks is Bangsbo Fort, which offers a unique history as well as fantastic views of the city and islands. The beautiful Bangsbo area offers experiences for the whole family. Enjoy the magnificent scenery, the historic buildings, the peace and quiet, the culture, the viewpoints, the running trails, the nature playgrounds, the wildlife and the flora.

Stroll through Frederikshavn and explore the poetry penned on house gables. Visit the Art Museum with the fascinating mask by Jens Galschiøt on its exterior. Also visit the newly refurbished Frederikshavn Church with an altarpiece by Michael Ancher and Krudttårnet, one of the city’s earliest defensive works.
