Parken Zoo is a combined zoo and amusement park in Eskilstuna. Start your day by spotting animals from all over the world – can you name them all? Sumatran tigers, monkeys, lemurs, alpacas and reptiles – just to mention a few – roam around the park.

In the amusement park, you’re met with plenty attractions – do you dare to hold your arms in the air? 

Visiting during the summer? Cool off in Parkenbadet, an oasis on hot summer days and the perfect place for a little break in between watching animals and riding carousels.

The Ebeling museum features abstract steel sculptures, ceramics and paintings by Swedish artist Allan Ebeling in addition to paintings by his daughters, Marianne and Harriet. During the year, the museum also regularly arranges various temporary exhibitions with both contemporary and traditional art.

The museum is located 7 km north of Eskilstuna – just a 40-minute bus ride or a short drive from the city. 

Experience more than 180 years of Swedish industrial history and a large number of pioneer products at The Munktell Museum. Find a great display of Volvo, Munktell and Munktell-Bolinder machines – most of them still in good working condition! At the museum, you’ll also see the first Swedish tractor from 1913 and the first Swedish built steamer.

Witness the 17th century come to life at the Rademacher Forges, an open-air museum in the middle of Eskilstuna. Ordered by King Charles X Gustav in, the purpose of the forges was to provide the kingdom with knives, needles, scissors, nails and tools. Today, you’ll still find active craftsmen carrying on the iron-, silver- and gold-smithing traditions, in addition to museum and exhibitions.    

If you are interested in history, then you can’t miss out on Sigurdristningen. Just outside of Eskilstuna, nestled on a large rock on a hillside, you’ll find these amazing, well-preserved runes from the Viking age. Well worth a visit, if you’re in the area!

Go for a stroll on the cobblestoned pavement at the romantic Köpmansgatan, the oldest street in Eskilstuna. Get lost in the narrow alleys between the painted wooden houses and imagine being part of a Swedish fairy tale. You can also enjoy the view of the houses from the riverside. Don’t miss out on Gamla Teatern – “The Old Theatre” – Dating back to the 1830s, it’s Sweden’s oldest provincial theatre that is still staging productions.
