Tylösand holds a special place in many people's hearts, both locals and tourists. This popular seaside resort is perhaps most famous for its nearly four-kilometre-long sandy beach, which fills with sunbathers all summer long.

From the characteristic lifeguard tower, Halmstad - Söndrums Lifesaving Society keeps watch and from mid-June to mid-August, there are licensed lifeguards stationed along the beach.

There are also restaurants, bars and kiosks adjacent to the beach.

The somewhat macabre name Galgberget comes from the fact that the place was once an execution site with a gallows hill. Today, it is a popular fitness and outdoor area with several different trails and loops, outdoor gyms, playgrounds, and even a pet cemetery. At the highest point of the hill, Klyftehög, there is a 13-meter-high lookout tower.

Also located on Galgberget is the Hallandsgården Open Air Museum, a unique place where you can gain insight into how life was lived in the past. Here you will find a windmill, schoolhouse and a traditional Halland cottage, along with other older buildings from all over Halland.

Halmstad Castle was built during the reign of King Christian IV in the early 1600s when the city of Halmstad and the county of Halland were Danish. At that time, it served as a pleasure palace for the king during his inspection tours, and as an official residence for the governor. Today, the county governor lives in the castle and the county administrative board has office space here.

During the summer months, guided tours are arranged inside the castle and throughout the year there are both cultural events and exhibitions.

This beautiful old church was built already in the 1400s and is named after the patron saint of seafarers. This is also one of the few buildings that survived, at least partially, from the great city fire in 1619 when the tower and roof were destroyed.

Worth noting when you visit the church are the baptismal font and the bell tower's staircase from the 1400s, the tombstones from the 1300s, and the pulpit from the 1600s. Concerts are often held in the church. A popular feature for both locals and visitors.

One of the few parts that remain today from Halmstad's fortress (completed in 1601) is Norre Port. The city gate, which leads to Storgatan with restaurants, bars and shopping, served until the 1960s as a thoroughfare for what was then called the national route two, which is the old E6.

Belonging to Halmstad's fortress are also its casemates, i.e., cannon rooms that were intended to defend the moat outside. There are some old preserved casemates to see along Karl XI's road, Klammerdammsgatan and Kyrkogatan.

It is not without reason that Halmstad is referred to as Sweden's Golf Capital. With 153 holes across eight different golf facilities in and around the city, Halmstad is a very popular destination for golfers.

Here, you can play on scenic and varied courses suitable for both beginners and international professionals. Just to mention a couple, the traditional Halmstad Golf Club is a short distance from the hotel. This is one of Sweden's oldest golf clubs and has hosted several international championships.

The innovative Halmstad Golf Arena has also received much international attention and has even been named Sweden's best training facility.

So, bring your golf clubs when you visit Halmstad. There are golf adventures waiting for everyone.

There are several exciting museums to explore in Halmstad.

Located centrally in Halmstad and neighbouring the Nissan River and Norre Katts Park, you will find Hallands Art Museum. It houses an extensive collection of Hallandish painting and you will find works from among others, the Halmstad Group, Söndrum Colony, Thea Ekström, GAN, Olle Bärtling, Roj Friberg, Lotta Antonsson and more.

Behind a glass section of the Hotel Tylösand, you will find parts of Per and Åsa Gessle's car collection. The Joyride Car Collection consists of several Ferrari cars - most of which were produced in limited numbers.

If you are a car enthusiast, you should visit Svedino's Car and Aircraft Museum, a half-hour drive from Halmstad. It houses one of Scandinavia's largest collections of vintage cars and aircraft. But keep an eye on the museum's opening hours.

Halland's Military History Museum is a new museum that opened its doors in 2023. The museum displays Halland's military presence with a focus on the Danish-Swedish wars, World War II and the Cold War.
