Museums in Halmstad
There are several exciting museums to explore in Halmstad.
Located centrally in Halmstad and neighbouring the Nissan River and Norre Katts Park, you will find Hallands Art Museum. It houses an extensive collection of Hallandish painting and you will find works from among others, the Halmstad Group, Söndrum Colony, Thea Ekström, GAN, Olle Bärtling, Roj Friberg, Lotta Antonsson and more.
Behind a glass section of the Hotel Tylösand, you will find parts of Per and Åsa Gessle's car collection. The Joyride Car Collection consists of several Ferrari cars - most of which were produced in limited numbers.
If you are a car enthusiast, you should visit Svedino's Car and Aircraft Museum, a half-hour drive from Halmstad. It houses one of Scandinavia's largest collections of vintage cars and aircraft. But keep an eye on the museum's opening hours.
Halland's Military History Museum is a new museum that opened its doors in 2023. The museum displays Halland's military presence with a focus on the Danish-Swedish wars, World War II and the Cold War.
For a more peaceful experience, we recommend a visit to the Open-Air Museum Hallandsgården on Galgberget. Here you will find older buildings and can experience how life was lived in Halland in the past.
